This collection of insurance policies consists of miscellaneous policies drawn, 1829 to 1898, in Worcester, Boston, and Springfield, Mass. Though there are various insurance companies represented, many of the policies were issued by the Worcester Mutual Fire Insurance Company. Many of the policies in the collection provide protection against fire for businesses and homes in Worcester County, Mass. One policy protects the furniture of the Baptist Meeting House in Worcester. There are only a few life insurance policies, including one issued to Pliny Earle Chase (1820-1886) in 1846. There are also policies insuring cargo shipped by William Bramhall ( - ) from Boston to Europe, 1858 to 1874. There are notes included in this collection listing other insurance policies found in other collections including the papers of the Salisbury family, the Henshaw family, and Edwin Conant.
